The New York Times says it's a "Must See Film." UCUMC will host a screening of the award-winning documentary film "Race to Nowhere" on Tuesday, May 10 at 7 pm in the Great Hall. (This event was previously scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th.) Race to Nowhere chronicles the dark side of the achievement culture in our schools with stories of young people who have been pushed to the brink, educators who are burned out and worried that students aren't developing the skills they need, and parents who are trying to do what’s best for their kids. Race to Nowhere is a call to mobilize families, educators and policy makers to challenge current notions of what is "best practice" in educating our children. Find more information about the film and purchase tickets ($10/person) to our screening at http://www.racetonowhere.com.
