Spring is Here – Make A Fresh Start ... Get Involved in New Ways at UCUMC!

Belonging to a community of like-minded people is a compelling reason to get involved. Our activities and opportunities at University Circle United Methodist Church (UCUMC) range from spiritual to social. Maybe this spring is the time you can find your niche within the church, make new friends, and perhaps make a difference in someone else's life. Listed below are just some of the upcoming events and on-going opportunties that are available. Please contact the church office (216) 421-1200 if you would like more information.

Women Mark Your Calendars for an after-church Salad and Dessert Potluck next Sunday, April 18th to learn more about our United Methodist Women – their programs and social outreach efforts. (RSVP's are needed, so sign up with the bulletin insert TODAY!)

Prayer Requests Welcome - Please submit prayer requests in any way which is convenient for you:

- Placed in the offering plate when it is passed
- Placed in the Prayer Box outside the office
- Send via email to the church office or any staff
- Send via "snail mail", which still delivers here
- Call the church office

Prayer requests are sent via email with as much anonymity as you would like.

Praying People Welcome - If you would like to join in support of our UCUMC family by praying, please notify Heather in the church office. You may receive emails or written notification of current prayer
requests.

Parents of Murdered Children: (POMC) is a support group for families individuals who have lost children as the result of violence. The group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, 6:30-7:30pm here at UCMC in the Yoder Room. Please stop by if you are interested, or call the church office for more information.

YOUNG ADULTS – The Young Adults at UCUMC believe that being a follower of Jesus doesn't just happen on Sunday. Together, we take part in mission and service in our Cleveland neighborhood, learn together about the bible and God's love of Justice, enjoy one another's company during our social gatherings around the city, and make space for worship throughout the week. Right now, you might want to join us at our weekly study 10am in the Youth Room upstairs. (Ask a volunteer for directions!) We're diving into the NOOMA series of short, creative videos that explore our world from the perspective of Jesus. NOOMA is an invitation to search, question, and join the discussion, and we hope you'll join us!

May Brings Flowers AND A Focus on Opportunities for you to learn how you can use your skills and talents for UCUMC. On Sunday, May 2 our Bigger Circle Potluck will feature representatives from the various social, programmatic, and mission outreach groups of the church. Bring your questions and a dish to share and join us for our potluck fellowship immediately following worship.

Pentecost Sunday, May 23On the day of Pentecost all the Lord's followers were together in one place. Suddenly there was a noise from heaven like the sound of a mighty wind. It filled the house where they were meeting. Then they saw what looked like fiery tongues moving in all directions, and a tongue came and settled on each person there. The Holy Spirit took control of everyone, and they began speaking whatever languages the Spirit let them speak. Acts 2:1-4

The Holy Spirit will be in our midst on this special Sunday as we welcome new members and our confirmands (young persons who are joining the church for the first time.)

University Circle's Parade the Circle occurs on Saturday, June 12 and UCUMC will again host the "Mad Hatter" tent where children and adults can fashion stylish hats of their own creation to wear at the parade. UCUMC Hat Helpers will be needed! What a great time to tell people about UCUMC!

WATCH for MORE INFORMATION about other upcoming events such as:

• Presentation of Godspell
• A day in the Circle with opportunities to attend worship followed by lunch and activities in University Circle
• Public Recognition of University Circle United Methodist Church – the "official" grand opening – this September!

Current Volunteer Needs:

answering questions, duplicating and selling recordings of the worship service.
Weekday Office: Sign up for 4 hours twice monthly if comfortable with multiple-line phones and a copy machine.
Audio/Video Recording Team: Record the worship service on a rotating schedule.
Bigger Circle Potlucks: Assist with food preparation, serving and clean-up on the 1st Sunday of each month.
