MOCA Cleveland design by Farshid Moussavi of FOA calls for a multifaceted gem clad in glass and shiny black stainless steel | cleveland.com
At 34,000 square feet, it won't be huge. But it's designed to dominate the corner of Euclid Avenue and Mayfield Road, where it will act as the gateway to the Uptown project, a $150 million-plus development aimed at revitalizing an urban dead zone with shops, restaurants, apartments and culture. It will also raise the visibility of the city's leading venue for contemporary art. Founded in 1968, MOCA is a noncollecting institution that mixes exhibitions of cutting-edge art from around the world with work by local and regional artists.

Upscale apartments planned for Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood | cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A developer plans to build 60 apartments in University Circle, where hospitals and institutions are driving the need for new homes despite the challenging economy.
WXZ Development Inc. envisions a $10.5 million apartment project on nearly 3 acres along Hazel Drive, near the Western Reserve Historical Society and the Cleveland Institute of Music. The developer, based in Fairview Park, will lease the land from nonprofit group University Circle Inc., which considers the Hazel property to be a high-priority development site in the bustling neighborhood on Cleveland's East Side.

Gifted Double-Neck Guitarist Mark Kroos Performing TOMORROW During 10AM Worship Service at University Circle United Methodist Church
Mark Kroos, an amazingly gifted double-neck guitar musician will perform at TOMORROW'S 10AM worship service at University Circle United Methodist Church (CLICK HERE to get directions). His performance will be highlighted by a rendition of "Amazing Grace" during communion.
"Mark Kroos is one of the most intelligent musical forces of the new guitar generation."
- Randall Williams, Kyser Musical Products
MARK'S BIO: Hailing from Williamsburg, VA, Mark Kroos is one of the only touring double neck guitarists in the world. His almost strictly instrumental style is characterized by open harmonies, polyphonic textures, incredible tapping technique, and is as entertaining to watch as it is to listen to.
Drawing influence from folk, Celtic, Indie, and even punk rock artists as well as other great acoustic guitarist such as Michael Hedges, Andy Mckee and Justin King, Mark Kroos has developed his own edge to the acoustic guitar.

PHOTOS: University Circle United Methodist Church LOCAL MISSION RESULTS: Rebuilding Together Cleveland
The volunteers repaired plumbing, installed a washtub, scraped and painted house trim, landscaped back yard, front flower bed and walkway, rebuilt a chain link gate in the driveway, cleaned gutters and drains and cleaned debris from a burned down garage. The report was that upon completion the project would have rated a perfect "10" on any home improvement show!
A tip of the (hard) hat to Bob Taylor as the moving force behind getting UCUMC involved in our first Mission Project right here in our own backyard. And, a HUGE round of applause for ALL the volunteers who graciously shared their time and their many talents with this important organization. Keep your eyes open for more outreach opportunities!

Social Creed of the United Methodist Church
We affirm the natural world as God's handiwork and dedicate ourselves to its preservation, enhancement, and faithful use by humankind.
We joyfully receive, for ourselves and others, the blessings of community, sexuality, marriage, and the family.
We commit ourselves to the rights of men, women, children, youth, young adults, the aging, and those with handicapping conditions; to improvement of the quality of life; and to the rights and dignity of racial, ethnic, and religious minorities.
We believe in the right and duty of persons to work for the good of themselves and others, and in the protection of their welfaire in so doing; in the rights to property as a trust from God, collective bargaining, and responsible consumption; and in the elimination of economic and social distress.
We dedicate ourselves to peace throughout the world, to freedom for all peoples, and to the rule of justice and law among nations.
We believe in the present and final triumph of God's Word in human affairs, and gladly accept our commission to manifest the life of the gospel in the world. Amen.
